I am the principal of the MacDougall Studio and have over 30 years of experience as a graphic designer and art director. I established my business in Indianapolis when I returned to the mid-west four years ago after living and working in New York City for 25 years.

I was formerly employed by the New York Times as a marketing communications designer for the New York Times Syndicate and News Service, where I developed promotion and sales material for offices in New York, London, Paris, Singapore and São Paulo.

I was also employed as an art director at Chapman, Stone and Addler, a direct marketing division of Young and Rubicam Advertising Agency, working on accounts for IBM, Met Life, NYNEX, Citibank, Chase Bank and the U.S. Postal Service.

I have freelanced for various clients, including Pearson Longman Educational Publishers, Masters of Linen, International Furnishings and Design Association, Theatreworks USA, Family Circle Magazine, Bristol-Myers Squib, Scholastic Magazine, and St. Michael's Episcopal Church.

I am an accomplished illustrator as well, published in books by Simon & Schuster, Thomas Nelson and Avery/Penguin Group, USA.

My education, training and business experience
I have a B.A. in Independent Learning (Illustration/ Fine Arts) from Indiana University, Bloomington. My freshman year was spent at Herron School of Art/IUPUI.

I've also taken classes at The School of Visual Arts, NYC, and Ivy Tech, Indianapolis, to enhance my professional skills.

When I m not working, I enjoy .
I love to garden. I have recently been involved in developing a community garden at the Lawrence Community Development Corporation which was great fun.

I enjoy being involved at my church, Lawrence United Methodist. I am currently facilitating a Sunday Bible study based on the writings of Max Lucado.

I love working with youth, and teaching art. (I freelanced for many years as a staff development trainer and artist-in-residence teacher for mainstream and special education children, grades K-12, at various sites in the NYC school system.) (I'd like to do more!)

Since I've been back in Indiana I've been mentoring a now 15-year-old young man from my neighborhood which is a real joy for me. (He is a great kid!)

I always strive to learn new things on my Mac. And I'm an avid photographer and a voracious reader. I also love to write.

In my spare time I create beaded jewelry which I sell at craft fairs, and I am developing a line of my own greeting cards.

Entertaining my cat, Toby, and walking my dog, Maddie, is daily fun for me!

Some of the Clubs, Associations and Volunteer activities that I participate in are
I am active at Lawrence United Methodist Church, serving on several committees and leading small group studies. I am also involved with the Lawrence Youth Youth Corps, a faith-based summer volunteer service group for Jr. High students.

I volunteer at the Lawrence Art Center (and teach a class there). And I've been involved with the Lawrence Sunrise Kiwanis Club.

I am also a member of the planning committee for our milestone Lawrence Central High School class reunion in 2012.
